Seniors/Retirees

Many times, we are not proactive to the events of life that may and will occur.  We are reacting to events as they occur. Benjamin Franklin said, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”, implying the importance of planning.  If you are currently retired or plan to retire, NSG can help you plan. We have free workshops and other resources in place to assist you in making the most out of your retirement and planning for your retirement.  We understand the importance of having your voice heard and your wishes kept when you can no longer speak for yourself. NSG understands the importance of protecting you and your legacy. We have programs customized for retirement. Sign up for our next classes or schedule for one of our counselors to come out. Take the necessary steps to secure your legacy is truly a reflection of you.

You have worked and now it’s time to set your legacy in stone.

According to the Social Security Administration, if you were born in 1960 or after, your full retirement age is 67 years old. And a man reaching age 65 today can expect to live, on average, until age 84 years old. A woman turning age 65 today can expect to live, on average, until age 86 years old.  Almost 20 years in retirement!  Great news …. if you have the money to enjoy it.

Every day 10,000 people in American turn 67, of the 2.1 million older adults on Supplemental Security Income (SSI), the average receive just $435 each month. (SSA, 2016)

Nearly 1 in 5 seniors approaching retirement have no retirement savings at all. Today 6.4 million seniors are living in poverty, by 2030 there will be 72 million seniors living in poverty in America.

What about the house, savings and other treasures saved to pass to the next generation?  Without clear, legal instructions outlining your wishes, these treasures can land in a court of law.   According to LexisNexis, approximately 55 percent of American adults do not have a will or other estate plan in place. Among minorities: 68 percent of African American adults and 74 percent of Hispanic adults do not have these documents in place.
